The Nightstand Dilemma

I think that one of the most important pieces of furniture is the nightstand. As I don't have one here, at home, it got me thinking that it is absolutely existential. But why am I spending a whole post on a simple, little nightstand. Because I think it actually represents more than each and every one of us could ever imagine. The nightstand is the place where we put everything aside and we submerge into the world of dreams. Symbolically, we put there our daydreams and our thoughts to pick them up with a fresh mind in the morning. Yesterday, when I just finished another amazing chapter of the book I am currently reading- Hemingway's "The Sun Also Rises", I put it on the shelf, crying over the fact that I don't have a nightstand, because I felt as if the book needed to have a special place. After all, it contains one of the main worlds I inhabit at night. It had to have its own pedestal that would praise its significance and that would shelter one of the last creations of my mind. Also, my glasses are most probably sick of being left at random places. And my phone would proudly take part in this rebellion, as the last item I check out before actually going to my "mind palace" (Sherlock reference here!). This little piece of technology that holds one of my deepest desires and late night whispers. I realised I am definitely a nightstand person - back in my old flat in Glasgow, my nightstand was one of my favourite pieces of furniture - I had my speakers there, my lamp, the current book I was reading, an oddly beautiful nose stand for my glasses and some basic survival items. So, it was a tiny representation of my inner world - I strongly believe that a nightstand could tell a lot about its owner. Therefore, I should totally put that at the top of my shopping list!
I figured out that I have to change that when I go back in Glasgow - my new flat lacks nightstands as well. But instead of just going to IKEA and buying something fairly random, I decided that I should get my hands dirty and research a little bit more - creativity awake!!! Of course, I went to my favourite source of inspiration when it comes to fashion or interior design, or anything else-  Pinterest! NB: My furniture there is white, so I have to stick to that colour! And drawers, I need as many as I can get!
So, later on  I am going to post my findings and ideas!

Dream on !

May the 4th Be with You

I have always been particularly fond of "Star Wars". I was infected by the SW flu when I was in the 6th or 7th grade and I was watching it at 12AM on the old TV in the living room back in Bulgaria, while my mum was sleeping on the couch. It got to me immediately -all these new exciting adventures in a magical sci-fi universe, as if an invisible force dragged me to it. So, this year I decided to wear something special and to celebrate one of the day of one of the most epic sagas of all time. I got this T-Shirt from Bershka last summer and I wear it quite often, so it appeared to be the hero of this fashion challenge! I like that it is not the typical merchandise type of a T-Shirt that is supposed to look baggy (probably because most of the merch T-Shirts are unisex which makes their conversion to a fashion statement really hard). The leather skirt I got from Boohoo last year and it is one of my best skirt friends! It goes well with everything, excluding the Scottish wind (-.-) . It is simplistic and adjustable to almost every casual-looking outfit. And the ribbon headband is a relatively new purchase - got it when I was visiting a friend in Brighton and I fell in love with it - it is surely a brave fashion statement that can give that sweet little wink to almost every outfit, making it girly and, to some extent, punk. In the beginning I was not sure if my fashion bravery would be enough for it as it is really noticeable but I knew it represented my style in a really good way. And braveness was totally one of its greatest traits.

As I wanted to emphasise a little more on the punk side of the outfit, I added my favourite biker boots that I have had for more than 3 years - I got them from Replay. And for the final touch I went for long black socks (Asos) and a silver "factory" ring.

MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU ALL!

The Devil Wears...Sneakers

Today was one of the sunniest and most beautiful days in Glasgow - though unlikely, the city has been surprising us a lot lately. When wondering what to wear, I decided to go for bright colours and one of my all time favourite colour combo - bright red and royal blue. As I had to do lots of walking,  "the new flat quest" required it, it decided to go for something comfortable. Thanks to the nice weather, a blazer would be enough - especially this one, that has served me for many years, adding a drop of colour to my monotonous outfits. In general, this outfit has saved me so many times when I am fashion-stuck and I want to look fancy in a casual way. So, this is me on the left with one of my best friends, Mina:

( yes, I know, but the whole colour matching thing was totally accidental, though we loved it)

I bought the blazer and the T-shirt from Zara and the jeans from Mango I found these amazing shoes in January (surprisingly, in Sports Direct), when I went to London. It was love at first sight (considering the discount, a whole epic romance)!  Totally chic, playful and comfortable, yet a little bit unsuitable for the rainy weather. So, they got their star moment today and they were a total eye-catcher. I love their idea and how you can still "wear heels" when being perfectly comfortable. As I was in a rush, I grabbed my multifunctional Miss Sixty bag that I got from TkMaxx and I combine it with everything!!!

First Impressions

Having a Lookbook profile for ages, it was hard for me to take the next step. I have always been a fan of writing and sharing my thoughts with the wider public, particularly when it comes to fashion. But a fashion blog? It is a serious commitment and, excluding jogging, I have never been good to committing myself to something. But, thanks to a little courage, given me by one of my best friends, I decided to try it out. I don't have a concrete structure or a genius idea, everything revolves simply around me and my fashion choices. Though for many people picking out an outfit for the day may not be an essential task for me it has always been. Probably partially provoked by vanity, but a part of me always knew the importance of first impressions- psychologists say that more than 90% of first impressions people give remain final, regardless the personal traits they demonstrate later on. And from my own experience, I am more than sure they are particularly important. But getting dressed up is a lot more than just aiming to impress someone, it is a mean of self-expression. Many of the greatest figures in fashion talk about clothing as a manifestation of the inner world. Have you noticed how clothing often reflects our mood? There are some days when you just know what you want to wear because it synchronises with what is inside. I personally believe that confidence comes partially from picking out the right outfit. When you feel comfortable with what you're wearing, when it talks about who you are, when it emphasises your mood, you cannot feel anything but confident. It might sound naive, but I think it makes you face life's challenges with a little bit more courage, hidden in the pocket of your favourite jeans. But why The Cherry Dreamer? For everyone who knows me, dreamer makes all the sense in the world- it is the word that describes me best. The burgundy cherry colour is an obsession of my own I found about lately - I rarely go out without having a cherry lipstick on and it gives me that drop of courage to take over the world!

But, enough of that. I will start my blogging adventure with one of my favourite outfits and one of my favourite trips. I wore that when I went to visit the capital, Edinburgh, with one of my childhood friends. We had an amazing time! I decided to wear something both classy and comfortable ( thanks to my brilliant Oxfords, sightseeing is never a problem) in my favourite colour - burgundy. Now, I would probably think of a different shoe option, but then I was dying for some comfort. I got the dress from Mango as a Christmas present and I love it. It could be worn to an official dinner when combined with heels, but at the same time it can provide the everyday chic a girl needs. I wanted to have my hair up, so the shoulder effect of the dress could be visible. The earrings I got from ASOS at a major discount, but I've lost them somewhere later on ( I am secretly hoping they'd return to me someday!!!!). These Oxfords are the love of my life, got them from Next last year and they are still joining me in the majority of my fashion adventures. So, this is the look, hope you all like it:

(these are the earrings and even if I never see them again, it was true love )
